Cougars Get One-Run Win at Ellesmere Island
The Igloo was the site of a competitive game between the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople and Valley View Cougars.

The Valley View Cougars defeated the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 5-4, in USPL Rookie action at The Igloo, with Valley View pitcher Pepe Fontirroig named player of the game. Getting the save was Magnus Belli, his 10th.

Valley View used the timely hitting of Luis González to capture the win. The pinch hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cougars ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was an important one.

"I was a little disappointed," said Ellesmere Island manager Chet Delaney. "We could've and should've scored more runs."

The 4th-place Cougars raised their record to 16-14.
