Long Island got a strong outing from Joop Els as the Ducks defeated the Capital Hill Interns, 5-1, at Alouettes Ballpark. With the loss, Capital Hill is 2-4.

The Ducks grabbed the lead in the top of the first. With two out, Illarion Podmarkov hit a 2-run home run off Paddy de Klerk, putting Long Island in front, 4-0. For Podmarkov, it was his 1st home run of the season.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Els said.
