Long Island rode a good effort from starter Rodrigo Alarcon to beat the Capital Hill Interns at Alouettes Ballpark. The final score was 4-2. The save was Govaart van Ankeren's, his 2nd. The Ducks, now 3-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.
The outcome might have been different for Long Island, had it not been for Derek Kelly, the 19-year old center fielder . Kelly stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Long Island up, 2-1. For the game, he was 4 for 4, including 1 double and 3 singles.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Kelly.
