Valley View turned a good effort from starter Pepe Fontirroig into a win over the Ladue Rams at Hillandale Grounds. The final score was 4-2. Ales Kretky closed the door for Valley View, picking up his 1st save of the year. The Cougars, now 3-1, have hit the ground running this season.

Had Guan-pei Bei not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Bei hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Cougars.

"Pepe's tempo and rhythm were good," said Cougars manager Will Thomas. "He was the key to us winning."
