The Provo Mango handed the Caldwell Chiefs a loss at Pipers Ballpark. The final score was 5-4. Alfredo Garza was named player of the game for Provo. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 1 run and drove in 2. He also added 2 bases on balls. Vítor Paiva got credit for the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Mark Jacobson got credit for the save for Provo. It was his 28th of the year.
Provo used the timely hitting of Quinn Lynch to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Mango on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Provo manager Chip Bishop.
The 4th-place Mango improved to 56-40.
