Washington beat Galesburg on the strength of starter Paddy de Klerk's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 9-0 win. de Klerk, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 10 and giving up 2 walks. The Generals improved to 38-53.
The two teams provided some entertaining baseball for the Washington Park crowd. Regardless of the outcome, a good time was had by all.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Jacob Curtis said.
