Fans who gathered at Pipers Ballpark saw a good contest between the South Beach Blaze and Caldwell Chiefs.

South Beach beat Caldwell at Pipers Ballpark, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Ryan Fry, who earned player of the game honors. Fry, now 4-2, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 0, and allowing 2 earned runs. Adrik Mihalushkin closed the game out for South Beach, earning his 5th save.

John Jankila contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the sixth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he got hit by a pitch. It was one at-bat that helped South Beach get the win.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Caldwell manager Hugh Harris said following the tough loss.

The first-place Blaze have won 5 in a row.
