Guzzlers Continue Skid Thanks to Stanton, 1787 BC
|
Bill Stanton left his imprint on the 9-4 Delaware win against the Galesburg Guzzlers. Stanton, who is tied for 8th in the PA in RBI with 40, was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Robert Smith, credited with the win, is now 10-5. He allowed 4 runs on 11 hits in 7.1 innings. Earning his 3rd save of the year was Don Yi.
Delaware took advantage of an error in the top of the seventh inning. The game was tied, 4-4, when Ricardo Yates hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Delaware in front, 6-4.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Dave Parrish said.
The Guzzlers, now 21-58, have lost 5 in a row.
