Varela Lifts Blaze to 12-5 Triumph
It was a good time at The Ballpark on the Beach, where fans came to watch the Washington Generals and South Beach Blaze get after it.

South Beach left fielder Ricardo Varela had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Washington Generals, 12-5. Nicky Bogdan, the winner, improved to 5-5. He held Washington to 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 6.2 innings, while racking up 9 strikeouts.

Frank Ray, who is tied for 7th in the PA in bases on balls with 43, chipped in for South Beach with a 2-run single in the bottom of the first. For the game, the second baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 6 runs batted in.
