Tight Tilt Goes to 1787 BC, 2-1
|
Delaware starter Robert Smith put a stranglehold on the Caldwell offense. The right-hander had complete command of his changeup in leading the 1787 BC to a 2-1 win. Smith got the win, improving to 7-5. He allowed 4 hits and walked 3 over 7.1 innings. Smith allowed 1 earned run. Sarda Chitturu closed the door for Delaware, picking up his 7th save of the year.
Marc Cadiou dealt the Chiefs a blow in the bottom of the first. Batting with runners on 1st and 3rd and Delaware leading 1-0, Cadiou hit a 2-1 changeup for a run-scoring single.
Afterward, 1787 BC manager Dave Parrish was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
Delaware is now 30-35, Caldwell 40-25.
