Chiefs Fall Short, 4-3, at Washington
|
The Washington Generals did just enough to sneak past the Caldwell Chiefs, 4-3, at Washington Park. Washington center fielder António Salas earned player of the game honors. Washington reliever Jason Long picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Víctor Deleón shouldered the loss. Washington occupies 8th place in the Premier A at 27-36.
Bill Butler was a prime contributor to the Washington win. He was 1-2 with 2 walks. In the bottom of the second with no one out, the 23-year old right fielder hit a run-scoring single. It made the score 4-0, in favor of the Generals.
Salas attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
