The Caldwell Chiefs got a superb performance from pitcher Devoid Couch, but the Walla Walla Walleye still won the game, 6-3. Couch was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Walla Walla reliever Cristián Álvarez was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Pi-ao Tsao. The 4th-place Walleye improved to 34-26.
Walla Walla used the bat of Mauro López to capture the win. The designated hitter jacked a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Walleye ahead, 6-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"We'll savor this win," López told the Walla Walla Chronicle, "then get ready for the next game."
