The Caldwell Chiefs topped the Mancelona Torch, 8-3, in USPL Single A action at Pipers Ballpark. The player of the game was Caldwell catcher Wade Tazewell. Shawn King, credited with the win, is now 2-1. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. The second-place Chiefs lifted their record to 36-20.
Chris McBride made an early impact for Caldwell when he stroked his 10th double of the season. The 2-run double, which came with two out in the bottom of the second, put the Chiefs on top, 3-0.
McBride told a Caldwell Times reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
