The Galesburg Guzzlers got a sterling performance from pitcher Jian-gun Fei, but the Generals still prevailed, 5-3. Fei was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters . Anthony Lang picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 2 earned runs on 9 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 9. On the season, he is now 2-0. Jeffrey Chesser earned the save, his 5th, for the Generals.
Washington used the timely hitting of Juan Echerearria to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put the Generals on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Echerearria.
With the victory, the Generals record now stands at 16-23.
