Torch Hang 7-5 Loss on 1787 BC
|
Delaware got a terrific performance from first baseman Tim Gonzáles, but it wasn't enough to beat the Mancelona Torch. Mancelona won the Torch Field contest, 7-5. Gonzáles was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Mancelona reliever George Kipcak picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Boyd Brennan was saddled with the loss. Lucas Gameiro nailed down his 9th save.
Armond Buonaiuti drew 1 walk in 4 trips to the plate for Mancelona. The 22-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Boyd Brennan. It was his 9th walk of the season.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Buonaiuti after the game.
At 17-21, Mancelona is in 7th place in the Premier A.
