Guzzlers Drop Another One
|
Mancelona played host to Galesburg at the friendly confines of Torch Field.
Galesburg got a terrific game from third baseman Steve Doctor. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Mancelona, 8-7. Doctor was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner was George Kipcak in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Yasujiro Takayama took the loss.
Had Carlos Moreno not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Moreno hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Torch.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Galesburg skipper Javier González.
Galesburg has now lost 7 in a row.
