Late Rally by Walleye Secures Win
|
South Beach got a terrific performance from pitcher Aldo Ottens, but it wasn't enough to beat the Walla Walla Walleye. Walla Walla won the The Ballpark on the Beach contest, 4-2. Ottens was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. Walla Walla reliever Pjotr de Moor picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Miguel Rodríguez shouldered the loss. Walla Walla now has a 3-game win streak.
Walla Walla used the timely hitting of Mauro López to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Walleye ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Walla Walla skipper Rafael Clemente.
