|
The Mancelona Torch relied on the hitting of shortstop Matsudaira Sugahara to stop the Provo Mango, 7-4. For the game, Sugahara was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Mancelona reliever Jian-gun Lin was credited with the win, to go to 3-1. José Castro took the loss for Provo. Mancelona is now 11-14, while Provo is 15-10.
Mancelona used a timely hit from Jacques Viceronte to get the win. The center fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the third inning to put the Torch on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Viceronte.
