Mancelona had no answer for South Beach Blaze hurler Elton Coalan, who overwhelmed Torch hitters as the Blaze coasted to a 7-1 victory. Coalan, now 3-0, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Théo Picard earned the save for South Beach, his 1st.

The Blaze grabbed the lead in the bottom of the second. With two out, Frank Ray hit a 3-run home run off Dave Shepard, putting South Beach in front, 5-0. For Ray, it was his 1st home run of the season.

In postgame comments to the South Beach Citizen, Coalan said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

With their winning streak at 4, the Blaze have raced to a strong start this season.
