The Walla Walla Walleye picked up a win at Pipers Ballpark, knocking off the Caldwell Chiefs, 6-1. Starting pitcher Hwen-thiang Goei, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Goei, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Losses have been rare for the Chiefs, who are now 4-1.

The Walleye got a lift from first baseman Luis Arroyo who had a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fourth inning off Duane Landry. It was his 3rd RBI of the season and put Walla Walla in front, 1-0.

"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Arroyo told a Walla Walla Chronicle reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
