Gold Sox Walk It Off for 59th Win of Season
|
Little Gold Sox Park was the site of a competitive game between the Syracuse Storm and Chicago Gold Sox.
Syracuse pitcher Frank Butler gave the Gold Sox all they could handle, but in the end, Chicago left Little Gold Sox Park with a 3-2 win. Butler allowed no earned runs on 3 hits over 5.1 innings. Chicago reliever Doug Lane picked up the win, upping his record to 5-0. Napoleon Vitagliano shouldered the loss.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Lai-hsiang Loh came to bat in the bottom of the ninth. Facing Syracuse pitcher Napoleon Vitagliano, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Chicago on top, 3-2.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Syracuse skipper Theodore Johnston, "and it cost us."
Syracuse now has a 5-game losing streak.
