Gold Sox Bump Off Reefers, 11-5
|
The Chicago Gold Sox topped the Cape Coral Reefers, 11-5, with first baseman Garm van Opdorp playing a big role. van Opdorp was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Gold Sox in the win. Steve O'Fennaghty got the win, improving to 7-8. He worked 9 innings, giving up 5 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 3. The Gold Sox raised their record to 57-36.
John Ryan dealt the Reefers a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Chicago leading 1-0, Ryan, who is tied for 4th in the SA in stolen bases with 19, hit a 1-0 forkball for a 2-run double.
"It was a solid team effort," said Ryan after the game.
