The Cape Coral Reefers got a strong performance from pitcher Stephen Palmer, who stymied the Syracuse offense en route to a 4-2 win at Margaritaville Park. Cape Coral reliever Naoaki Iwasaki was the winner. His record is now 6-2. The losing pitcher was Donnie Rawling. Cape Coral is now 41-43, Syracuse 49-35.
Roberto Ramos dealt the Storm a blow in the bottom of the sixth. Batting with the bases loaded and Cape Coral leading 2-1, Ramos hit a 1-2 curveball for a 2-run single.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Cape Coral skipper Willis Crawford.
