Dragoons Turn Back Smokies, 3-1
|
Denie Coppens pitched well, but the Tennessee Smokies still lost the game, falling 3-1 to the Louisiana Dragoons at Smokies Stadium. Mark Smith got credit for the win, improving to 4-6. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 6 innings. Wesley Mason picked up the save for Louisiana, his 26th of the year.
Louisiana used the timely hitting of Enrique De La Rosa to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Dragoons on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said De La Rosa.
The Dragoons, now 45-29, have won 4 in a row.
