Tennessee Beats Niagara Falls, 5-2
|
Tennessee center fielder Iiri Haapajarvi made his presence felt in the 5-2 Smokies triumph over the Niagara Falls Expos. Haapajarvi went 3-3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Roberto Cabrera got the win, improving to 5-5. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. Joe Gram closed the door for Tennessee, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Haapajarvi had an important at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the third, when he hit a run-scoring single. The Smokies went on to win.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Haapajarvi told the Tennessee Gazette.
Tennessee is now riding a 3-game win streak.
