Smokies Cut Down Expos, 6-2
|
Tennessee shortstop Bernardo Rodríguez played a vital role in his team's 6-2 triumph over Niagara Falls. He went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 3 runs for Tennessee. The Expos fall to 6-13 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2036 season.
Juan Costa had a big run-scoring single for the Smokies in the top of the fourth inning. With Tennessee leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Lou Cain and stroked the single to center. It was his 7th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Smokies ahead, 3-1.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Smokies manager Jerome Perry. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
