Northern Lions BC Knock Off Rainbow Mermaids, 6-1
|
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC knocked off the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 6-1, at Great Northern Field. Jorge Herrera, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Thunder Bay won. The right fielder was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win was Quentin Bowers's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Randy Carr took the loss for Northern Virginia. The Northern Lions BC, now 4-0, have stormed out of the gates.
Herrera contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Thunder Bay in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Herrera took a slider from Randy Carr and stroked the home run to right-center. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Northern Lions BC to leap in front, 2-1.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Herrera said.
