Arryns Top River Rats in Extras
|
Columbia got a terrific performance from left fielder DeMarvion Overshown, but it wasn't enough to beat the Lake Erie Arryns. Lake Erie won the Columbia Stadium contest, 4-3. Overshown was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Jimmy Whitney picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 8-1. Mario Sánchez was tagged with the loss. Armando González closed the door for Lake Erie, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Lake Erie needed the clutch hitting of Adrian Chandler to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Arryns on top, 4-3. For the game, Chandler had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"This is a resilient bunch," said Lake Erie manager Donald Hutchinson.
With the win over Columbia, the Arryns improved to 48-40.
