River Rats Sneak Past Hotspur U-21, 2-1
|
The Columbia River Rats faced a tough opponent in Phoenix pitcher Sean Neely, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Hotspur Kiddie Complex by a final score of 2-1. Neely went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Columbia reliever Vadim Rajnev picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Elvis King was collared with the loss. The River Rats have now won 4 straight.
José García had a nice at-bat for the River Rats with one out in the top of the tenth. With a runner on 1st, the catcher hit a single, which would prove important in the Columbia win.
"It was terrific getting this win," García said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
