Bulls Beat Hotspur U-21 in 10
|
The Mt. Vernon Bulls took Phoenix pitcher Sean Neely's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Hotspur Kiddie Complex. The final score had Mt. Vernon getting past the Hotspur U-21, 4-2. Neely went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 3. Mt. Vernon reliever Rafael Santiago got the win, raising his record to 3-4. Tony Ramírez was tagged with the loss. With the victory, the Bulls record now stands at 32-47.
Mt. Vernon used the timely hitting of Joe Smith to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Bulls on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Big win," said Smith.
