River Rats Come Back Late to Clip Bulls
|
Columbia beat Belleville at Belleville Field, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to right fielder Roderick Bonden, who earned player of the game honors. He was 2-5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The winner was Gabriel Flowers in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Ken Dundee took the loss. The River Rats have now won 6 straight.
Had Bonden not come through in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Bonden hit a 2-run home run. The River Rats never looked back after taking the 6-5 lead.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Columbia manager Kyle Besley.
