Caterpillars Win at Kennesaw, 5-3
|
Grand Forks and Kennesaw duked it out at Jets Stadium and the Caterpillars came out victorious.
Grand Forks pitcher Salvador Rangel did his part in helping his team beat the Kennesaw Jets, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winning pitcher was Rangel, now 2-4. He tossed 5 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Brian Holman earned the save, his 5th.
The result might have been different for Grand Forks, had it not been for Toni Vilen. The second baseman produced a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Caterpillars ahead, 4-0. For the game, Vilen had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Vilen. "And not try to do too much."
The 'W' lifts Grand Forks's record to 23-35.
