Victory Over Bulls Takes Columbia to 37-19
|
The Mt. Vernon Bulls got a superb performance from pitcher Okura Tenno. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Columbia. The River Rats won the game, 4-0. In spite of the loss, Tenno was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings allowing 3 runs. Columbia is now 37-19, while Mt. Vernon is 22-34.
José Ocasio had a big run-scoring single for the River Rats in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Columbia leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a splitter from Okura Tenno and stroked the single to left. It was his 38th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the River Rats ahead, 2-0.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Ocasio.
