Battery Win at New Orleans, 10-5
|
The New Orleans Voodoo got a superb performance from designated hitter Gilberto Juárez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Charleston. The Battery won the game, 10-5. In spite of the loss, Juárez was named the player of the game. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Carlos Medina got the win, improving to 7-3. He worked 6 innings, giving up 5 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. Charleston has 3 straight wins, New Orleans 3 straight losses.
Charleston used the timely hitting of Joey Coco to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Battery on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but he made it count.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Coco.
