Bulls Bridle Hawks, 2-1
|
Belleville got an elite performance from starting pitcher Hirotsugu Kobayashi in taking a 2-1 decision over the Laredo Hawks. The Bulls bumped their record to 24-20 with this latest triumph.
The Hawks had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Bulls going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old second baseman Rich Lucas came to the plate. Lucas hit a run-scoring single on a full count fastball from Laredo hurler Olaf Solleveld. It was Lucas's 33rd hit of the year.
Lucas attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
