Grasshoppers Trounce Fur Traders, 10-0
|
The Tacoma Fur Traders took it on the chin, losing 10-0 to the San Bernardino Grasshoppers. John Núñes, who is tied for 5th in the PAA with a 105 strikeouts, pitched a strong game for San Bernardino. The winning pitcher was Núñes, now 9-7. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 8. The Grasshoppers, now 62-40, have won 4 in a row.
San Bernardino used the timely hitting of Wren Driscoll to capture the win. The catcher socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Grasshoppers ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Driscoll. "But I have better dreams after a win."
