Screaming Eagles Beat Sixshooters, 5-2
|
The first-place Mercer Island Screaming Eagles took on the Westwood Sixshooters at Mercer Island Grounds.
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles grabbed a 5-2 win over the Westwood Sixshooters at Mercer Island Grounds. Mercer Island center fielder Serious Lee went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once to earn player of the game honors. Aldo Ottens was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Dave Hulton nailed down his 2nd save.
Lee contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Mercer Island in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Lee took a fastball from Mike Larsen and stroked the home run to right. His 15th home run of the season allowed the Screaming Eagles to leap in front, 3-1.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Mercer Island skipper Omer van Osch.
Mercer Island goes to 62-31. The win puts them 5½ games up in their division.
