The inspired effort of Lake Minnetonka third baseman Gerardo Vázquez was not enough to prevent a 5-2 loss to the Minnesota Loons. Vázquez went 2-2 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI. Martyn Drdio earned the win to go to 4-4. He allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 1 strikeout. Ye-qing Tsai got credit for the save for Minnesota. It was his 1st of the year.
The result might have been different for Minnesota, had it not been for Juan Huerta. The first baseman produced a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Loons ahead, 3-2. For the game, Huerta had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Minnesota manager Ramón Pantoja. "Our pregame was pretty good."
Minnesota occupies 5th place in the Premier AA at 48-44.
