Voodoo Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
The New Orleans Voodoo topped the Las Vegas Flamingos by the score of 6-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to third baseman Orlando Velásquez. Velásquez was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Voodoo on the day. Matt Martin picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 6-2. The third-place Voodoo have won 4 straight games.
Velásquez came through with some timely hitting for New Orleans. With the score 1-0 in the bottom of the second and one down, Velásquez hit a 2-1 cutter for a 2-run home run. His 15th home run of the season made it 3-0, New Orleans.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said New Orleans manager Chase Sims.
