Shooters Jolt Love Boats with Late Rally
|
The Lake Minnetonka Love Boats got a sterling performance from pitcher Giuseppe Farina, but the Shooters still prevailed, 5-3. Farina was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. Springfield reliever Gilberto Chávez was credited with the win, to go to 5-1. Pancho Mastache took the loss for Lake Minnetonka. The Shooters go to 31-44, putting them 9th in the Premier AA.
Had Shigeaki Samurakami not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Samurakami hit a 2-run double. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Shooters.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Samurakami said after the game.
