Screaming Eagles Rally For Late Win Over Fur Traders

Mercer Island overcame a superlative game from Clarence Miller to beat Tacoma, 4-3. The Tacoma pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of shutout ball. Luis Oropeza locked down his 7th save. Mercer Island is now 48-25, Tacoma 34-39.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and one out in the top of the eighth inning. That's when right fielder Doug Cole hit a single. The Screaming Eagles went on to win.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Cole. "And not try to do too much."
