Screaming Eagles Fall Short, 3-2, at Lake Minnetonka
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles got a sterling performance from pitcher James Lendell Basford, but the Love Boats still prevailed, 3-2. Basford was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. Lake Minnetonka reliever Augusto Rumina was the winner. His record is now 2-0. James Lendell Basford took the loss. The Love Boats go to 34-38, putting them 6th in the Premier AA.

Lake Minnetonka took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With no one out, second baseman Martin van Veldhuizen hit a solo home run that set the crowd abuzz.

Mercer Island manager Omer van Osch said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
