Shooters Get Win, Extend Streak to 5
|
Springfield turned a good effort from starter Henry Ross into a win over the San Bernardino Grasshoppers at Springfield Stadium. The final score was 5-2. Ross went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 2-5. Gilberto Chávez closed the door for Springfield, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
In the bottom of the second, Ben Bowers hit a 3-run home run for Springfield. The 3rd home run of the season for the Springfield catcher put the Shooters on top, 4-1.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Bowers told the Springfield Observer.
Springfield has now won 5 in a row.
