Grasshoppers Deal Screaming Eagles 5-1 Setback

San Bernardino rode a fine outing from starter Alberto Gómez to victory over the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles at Mercer Island Grounds. The final score was 5-1. Júlio Justiniano picked up the save for San Bernardino, his 2nd of the year. San Bernardino is now 30-20, while Mercer Island is 34-16.
San Bernardino used the timely hitting of Lawrence White to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Grasshoppers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said San Bernardino skipper Glenn Draper.
