Eclipse Get One-Run Win at San Bernardino
|
Colm Shapland left his imprint on the 5-4 Northville win against the San Bernardino Grasshoppers. Shapland, who is tied for 10th in the PAA in stolen bases with 10, was 3-5 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 times. Wendell Baldwin, the winner, improved to 4-3. He held the Grasshoppers to 4 earned runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 4. Northville has now won 4 straight, while the Grasshoppers have lost 3 in a row.
Northville used the timely hitting of Bill Dixon to capture the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Eclipse on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Shapland. "And not try to do too much."
