Screaming Eagles Squelch Love Boats Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles stymied the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats, 4-0, at Heron Field. Barrett Drury, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs for Mercer Island. Mercer Island reliever Carlos Cardoso was credited with the win, to go to 3-0. Cipriano Pinto took the loss for Lake Minnetonka. Mercer Island leads the Premier AA by 2 games.
Mercer Island used the clutch hitting of Charles Basle to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to give the Screaming Eagles the lead, 3-0. For the game, Basle had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
