Grasshoppers Win in Extras
|
The San Bernardino Grasshoppers and Atlantic City Sonics put on quite a show at Sonics Ballpark.
The Grasshoppers had to overcome a fine performance from Atlantic City pitcher Félix Aluonado to grab a 4-3 win at Sonics Ballpark. Aluonado allowed 3 earned runs over 8 innings. The winner was Ewan Atwood in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Kent Phillips took the loss.
Late-game drama came in the top of the tenth inning. With two out and a runner on 1st, the batter, Rio Clark, hit a single. It helped San Bernardino seize the win.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Clark. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
The third-place Grasshoppers have won 5 in a row.
