Fur Traders Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Loons
|
The Tacoma Fur Traders took Minnesota pitcher Arnie Harper's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Loony Bin. The final score had Tacoma getting past the Loons, 5-3. Harper went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 5. Tacoma reliever Josip Primorac picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-1. Ainanani Oliwa was collared with the loss. Yushua Wazir closed it out for his 1st save.
Tacoma used the timely hitting of Abel Murphy to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Fur Traders on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Murphy told the Tacoma Daily News.
The Fur Traders saw their win-loss record go to 17-14. At the same time, the Loons fell to 11-20.
