The Springfield Shooters took Westwood pitcher Mike Larsen's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Sixshooters Stadium. The final score had Springfield getting past the Sixshooters, 4-2. Larsen went 9 innings and allowed 4 earned runs, striking out 4. Reliever Gilberto Chávez picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Mike Larsen took the loss. Wu-ti Xuan got the save, the 1st for him this season.

A critical at-bat came in the top of the seventh inning when the Shooters sent 22-year-old left fielder Cornell MacDonald to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a sacrifice fly, to put Springfield on top, 4-2.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," MacDonald said.

With the win, the Shooters have a record of 12-12.
