Screaming Eagles Come Back Late to Top Ghosts
|
Despite a great performance by Casper designated hitter Jesús Encarnación, the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles defeated the Ghosts by the score of 12-8 at Mercer Island Grounds. Encarnación was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Mercer Island reliever Mario López picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ipe de Deugd shouldered the loss. The Screaming Eagles raised their record to 8-7.
Had Juan Reyes not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Reyes hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Screaming Eagles.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Reyes.
